As some of you may know, Hout Bay Tourism has been under construction for a little over a month now.
Its been a long journey but certainly one we will not forget in a hurry and now that it is finally complete and we sit here just before the launch of our all new branding, interactive website and two new initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable tourism as a whole, suddenly, there is this moment of calm, we are able to reflect, reflect on everything we have achieved this month, everything we have achieved as a whole, we look back on where we started and we look forward to where we want to be and honestly we would be lying if we said it didn't tug on the Ol' heart strings a bit.
In the beginning all we intended to do was clean up our logo a bit, de-clutter, simplify, keep up with the times, after all, don't they always say... "less is more"? but through some type of divine intervention, the stars aligning or which ever fate like statement you choose to insert here we ended up with a new brand manager, a new purpose and a new direction which then all gave way to the mammoth task of creating and developing an entirely new interactive content fueled website and that new website then lead to experimenting in other areas of tourism and how we could grow and make tourism better for not only the tourist but the ecology of Hout Bay as a whole as well.
In hind sight it may not have been the wisest idea to try and re-brand and re launch in the very short space of a month but boy are we glad we did, this epic journey through discovery and research into our target market, economy, diverse culture and community has opened up more opportunities for growth in the ecology of Hout Bay than just the normal "visit Hout Bay" tourism office.
As a team we sat around a large table daily, working together, sharing opinions and advise, creating, engaging and most importantly putting into practice everything we were trying to achieve and through doing all of this together some amazing new ideas and initiatives were born. Ideas and initiatives we cannot wait to share with you in the coming months (hit the subscribe button now if you want to be kept up to date) and not only did our team grow together but our network grew too and all of a sudden we were surrounded by like minded individuals all working together to achieve the same goal... surrounded by a community built on support and uplifting one another instead of competing and like magic the place you always insisted was perfect just became even more perfect.
It was a wild ride and a lot of hard work, late nights and early mornings but it was worth every single 5am alarm screaming at us from the other end of the room and we would not change the past month for the world.
With that being said it is with heartfelt love and good #houtbayvibez that we thank each and every single person and organisation that had a hand in us getting to this point. you know who you are and with out you none of this would of been remotely possible.
To all our new visitors and subscribers, this is Hout Bay, it is our home, our town, our Republic and we are so excited to share all the magic with you.
